Maneki Neko or 'beckoning cat' is a cat with a waving forearm that people in Japan believe is supposed to bring good luck. The raised left paw is supposed to attract customers into shops and the charm on its neck is called a koban. This has good fortune written on it (Fuku in Japanese)and while i was in Japan i saw LOADS of them always near the entrance to shops. Anyway i have always wanted my own and i came across this website - (http://cp.c-ij.com/europe/papercraft/de/lucky/lucky-cat-happiness_e.html) that had a 'make your own'paper Maneki Neko that you could download and printout so i decided to make it, and as i am looking at paper crafting in my graphic interpretation brief right now i thought i would have fun with paper and play around a bit!
This is my Maneki Neko, Its not perfect but its my first attempt!
