Susan Stockwell - Graphic Interpretation

After visiting the Sheffield gallery i saw Susan Stockwells work and i really liked her use of paper and maps in particular. I looked for more of her work and i found her website that documents her work: Susan Stockwell
This image is taken from the website but it is what i saw in the exhibition at Sheffield. Stockwell had taken maps and literally sewn conflicting countries together in this piece called 'Cartographic Dress'

This image is from Stockwells website and is called 'China Stack' I think this work relates to my current 'Graphic interpretation' Brief as it is using paper manipulation to explore depth.

This image is a closer view of the one above and I really like the texture of the paper close up. I think this gives it another interesting dimension.

This image is a variation of the China stack and is a stack of manipulated paper in the shape of the UK. I think the use of thin paper gives it an interesting texture.

These images are called 'South London Arteries' and i think it is an interesting graphical way to display something so over looked in general day to day life.
