Vivienne westwood

I went to Sheffield millennium galleries today to see the Vivienne Westwood exhibition. I have realized that i don't actually like most of her designs but again it is something i would never usually go and see and has inspired me in a different way and given me ideas i wouldn't normally have. The exhibition space was well set up and i found the displays quite interesting. The infamous shoes that Naomi Campbell fell over in were there and a selection of her clothes and collections were also there.

Of all of her pieces i really liked the tailored 'booze' suit made from fine grey wool from her spring/summer collection from 2000. I like the tailored aspect and in comparison to the rest of her work i find her tailored stuff similar to graphic design and her older work similar to art. I know this sounds strange but i find her early work which is all loose and flowing and baggy similar to art, as it is too free and doesn't really have a focus whereas the tailored designs are more like graphics - controlled art. To me Graphics is Art with reason and purpose.
