this was the first time I'd actually gone to West Yorkshire Playhouse and i went to go see a self indulgent, typographic, graffiti based, break dancing spectacle. The whole thing was really self centered, focused on one guys need to get his name out all over the city. The storyline was pointless and the ending was the best bit. All the actors/dancers came back on stage at the end of the show to show off their break dancing skills which were really good and the music was quite good too. There were small sections of animation that were based on trains and cityscapes which were quite interesting and the whole set on stage was really different and unusual. The set was 5 letters and the roman numeral for two - M I N E II. They were graffiti style letters created as 3d sculptures made for climbing and crawling on and where a big part of the show. All in all i think it was quite a good experience, they came out into the crowd to "tag" people with promotional stickers and i got tagged!! It was something i would never really go and watch but i think it gave me some interesting ideas for the summer brief! I will add pictures of my tagged program later...
