After looking in a book produced by http://www.ycnonline.com i came across Hennie Haworths work and i thought it was quite relevant in relation to my current brief of Graphic Interpretation. She is an illustrator and her website with examples of all her work is http://www.henniehaworth.co.uk. I looked through her work and selected some images i found interesting in relation to the brief.
This first image is of the great wall of china and planes. I thought the drawn route on the 'map' was interesting as it shows the remote control planes path. The other planes in the image also add to the idea of travel. I think this is a relevant image due to the linear map like quality.
This next image is an illustration of different types of English currency. I think the format of the image is interesting, showing development and a sequence from one coin to many images of money and detail from money such as the typefaces, symbols and the queens face. The background of graph paper implies that it is a representation on a graph that shows an increase in information. I think this visual way of representing information is interesting as it engages the onlooker more.
This image makes me think of a pie chart in a different shape. The brain looks like each colour represents a certain amount of information. I think using existing methods and developing them and playing with how you can alter them make this image interesting. I really like the 3dimensional aspect of the text on this image also.
This image also reminds me of a pie chart with all the relevant information represented by the objects on the plate and the writing around the edge is like a title for the pie chart, showing what the information is representing.
This image reminds me of a family tree. I think this is a good way to represent a timeline. Its shows development and sequence in a non linear way which makes it more interesting than a generic historically drawn simple timeline. Looking at this i am only interested in the format in which the information is presented, not the information itself.
This final image was also interesting to me as i thought it was a creative way of generating a mark in relation to certain information. I think this way of thinking is is different and really innovative.
