Final Crit
After having my final crit i came away with valuable criticisms that will enhance my work. People commented on how they thought that my format was not suitable for my idea and it was too solid and bulky for my focus of delicateness. The gray looks too dark and heavy for my focus and the whole format is too solid, i need to create a format that looks delicate, as though it might fall apart as soon as you touch it. As my books content is so simple, the focus of it would have to be all about the details. The details i will need to focus on are: material of the book, binding technique, thread colour and thickness, format, placement/organisation of content and size. I plan to create three books with the content focusing on the tips of each leaf, the veins of each leaf and the edge of each leaf. I decided to create three books as asymmetry in nature is really noticeable at a closer detailed level whereas at first glance nature looks fairly symmetrical. I thought this was quite appropriate as my focus is detail. I will then house them all together in a display box to create a cataloged system of books for my leaves. I could maybe wrap them in thin paper also as method of preserving the delicate contents. I will bind my book with a single white thread at the top and bottom of the spine, use tracing paper for delicateness, keep it quite small to make it feel fragile and keep colour to a minimal or use muted neutral tones.
