Collage/Photomontage - Hannah Höch

In my second year at college i had to create a contextual diary and had to look at a variety of formats in context, collage, dada and photomontage were all part of what i looked at and Hannah Höch was one of the artists i looked at to begin with. I have always been interested in Dada, photomontage and collage as I like the randomness and odd placement of objects and the way that the dada images were created using things such as free association. I like the layers and the textures created in collages. The image below is called kitchen knife and is a photomontage created by Hannah Höch.



This image is also by Hannah Höch and is entitled 'Self Portrait' I really like the oversized and disproportionate features. I think it gives it quite a humorous aspect.
