Form and Function - 'Sophisticated Simplicity'

An article in pingag (the link is at the bottom of the page) had these amazing designs of products that are simple and functional in every way.

This image is of a glass designed in the shape of flower so when you place it down onto the table and water drips down it then it creates a flower pattern. This attention to detail combined with simplicity is why i admire Japanese design.

Even something as simple and mundane as thumb tacks have been thought about down to the last functional detail. This image is of thumb tacks that are magnetic and can hold more than just a piece of paper to the wall.

This is how strong they are....

This adapted umberella is something you wouldn't even notice the difference on but here a simple delicate design has been created that doesn't affect the way the umberella functions.

This Light bulb duo are usually something people dislike and dont really pay much attention to until they flicker and aggravate you. Here they have been subtley adapted to look like bamboo. Little touches like this and the attention to detail are what makes simplicity interesting.
