As a fan of all things Japanese, I love anime and following are examples of some of my favourites.
This was the first animation by Studio Ghibli that I watched and I immediately loved the style of the drawing, the characters and the way they moved. I think the style of animation by Studio Ghibli is quite child like and simple and that's what makes it work. I really admire Japanese design, and I think that Studio Ghibli is a perfect example of Japanese graphic design. I love the simplicity and stylistic nature of anime.
This is another animation by Studio Ghibli. This is an image of character collectable figures from the anime ‘My Neighbour Totoro’.. I think that the colours used and the detail involved in the animation is amazing. I like the bold colour and simplicity of the drawing. I think the use and design of characters are also interesting as the characters are very simple and stylised.
Another anime I find really interesting for its style and content is Azumanga Daioh. This is a section from a manga that was adapted and transformed into an anime. I like the stylised sections and the simplicity of the drawing helps you to focus on the writing.
This is an image of Azumanga Daioh the anime. I like the bold flatness in the colours as I think it gives it a very graphic quality. I think the style of drawing also helps with the story lines and humour used throughout the anime as the humour is quite surreal and the simple animation doesn't complicate things any more than necessary.
This example of anime is of Azumanga the game. The simplistic style of the drawing has kept the imagery clean and sharp and the bold flat colours have translated well on the computer.
